Integrating Nutrition Sensitive Food Gardens

Nutrition-sensitive local agriculture plays a critical role in addressing malnutrition. Food gardens can provide a diverse range of nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables to both schools and communities, helping to improve dietary diversity and intake of essential vitamins and minerals. Additionally, by promoting the consumption of locally grown foods, food gardens will also help to strengthen local food systems and support small-scale farmers. This would lead to improved food security, as communities become less reliant on imported foods and more self-sufficient. Overall, nutrition-sensitive food gardens and local agriculture are essential for addressing malnutrition and building resilient food systems for sustainable school meal programs.
All the schools under Rise Up Program will have a model food garden in their school in addition to community food gardens linking local agriculture with the meal program.

Minimum Carbon Footprint

Majority of the inputs needed for School Meals are sourced locally mainly through the parents of the school minimizing carbon foot print and promoting local agriculture.

Rise Up Malnutrition Tracker

Mobile app is being developed to asses and track malnutrition among children to ensure recovery process is fully tracked and monitored.

Mal-Zero Schools

A 1000-day campaign in schools to get rid of malnutrition among school children through targeted interventions and sustainable nutrition-sensitive school meal programs.
